Cartmell Elementary teacher Laura Pirtle’s innovative strategies teaching iReady math to her second graders earned her recognition recently. Each month, curriculum associates conducts a drawing across the state to select which teachers to recognize. Principal Brandi Wells and Instructional Coach Michele Long surprised her with the certificate, candy and a card recently.

The Animal Savers completed their supply drive at Cartmell Elementary and got to visit some puppies from the Carroll County Animal Shelter recently. Animal Savers is part of the Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) at Cartmell. In total, they collected 383 items for the shelter, which is 111 more items than last year. Their donations filled the shelter's van three times. They are going to present this project at STLP State on March 27 in Lexington!
