OVEC is hosting a 5K run/walk to benefit Head Start. Join in the fun!


The Cartmell Elementary Animal Savers STLP group held a collection drive and animal adoption event at Tractor Supply this weekend. Three pups were adopted! The public gave 16 very large bags of food, lots of treats and some toys and collars and cleaning supplies, as well as $140 in cash donations. Great job to this STLP team!

Cartmell Elementary students in Ms. Southworth, Ms. Evans and Mr. Courtney's classes held a poetry slam recently. The students read their own poems about seasons and the group learned the proper response to a poetry reading is to snap rather than clap.

Fourth graders from Cartmell Elementary recently took a tour of the Carroll County Area Technology Center. They were introduced to each of the class offerings and had a little fun in the process. (More photos on the District Facebook page.)

Mrs. Catt, the librarian at Cartmell, conducted a random drawing to give away three signed copies of “The Big Eclipse Day”— a book recently published by her author/science teacher friend from Frisco, TX, Sherrie Klein (aka Sharky Science). The winners were Abigail Laib, Bradley Routon, and Liah Gutierrez (not pictured).

Carroll County's students are on the buses and heading home before today's total solar eclipse. Enjoy the event and remember to wear your eclipse glasses!
