Conley receives award holding flowers

Carrollton, Ky. - February 25, 2022 - Carroll County's own Cydney Conley has been recognized as a 2021-2022 Anthem Education Excellence Award Winner for the Northern Kentucky region. The award, sponsored by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, recognizes "Kentucky teachers, staff, and administrators who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to achieve education excellence in 2020 and 2021." Conley was honored at a surprise ceremony at Kathryn Winn Primary on Friday.

“I could not be more excited to see Ms. Conley recognized as one of only ten Anthem Education Excellence Award winners in Kentucky," said Kennan Wethington, President of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Kentucky. "The dedication, passion, and caring spirit that she exhibits every day epitomizes the dedication, care and passion of educators across the commonwealth.”

Conley is a Family Ties Youth Resource Center coordinator at Kathryn Winn Primary, and her selection as one of the Anthem Education winners has earned a $2,500 donation to the school from Anthem. She has served in the Carroll County School District since 2004.

"We are beyond proud that Cydney Conley has been selected for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s Education Excellence Awards," said Superintendent Danny Osborne. "The pandemic has changed education for all of us, and Ms. Conley has been on the front lines, helping us all navigate the changes. Through her work as a FRYSC coordinator, Ms. Conley has worked to ensure that students have had much-needed food as well as social-emotional support throughout the pandemic. She is a model employee and an exemplar of servant-leadership."

At Friday's celebration, students and staff were present to see Conley receive a commemorative plaque from Anthem Kentucky Vice President Kevin Kyde. The school also received a special banner in addition to the $2,500 donation.

“Teachers, custodians, school nurses, principals, and everyone associated with education in Kentucky are among the true heroes of the last 18 months," said Wethington in a release. "It’s been a challenging time to be an educator and we too often take them for granted, yet education is a critical social driver of health and their contributions have been tremendous. These awards are intended to provide another path for students, parents, or anyone to honor those who have gone the extra mile – and put a little money in their schools’ education funds.”

With 1.5 million Kentucky members, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield has been a leading health benefits company in the state for more than 80 years. The company takes a grassroots approach to health education and outreach by continuously finding new ways to collaborate with hospitals, doctors, and Kentucky communities.
