Teachers are required to address WIDA English Language Development Standards in classes containing English Language Learners. These standards are broad-based standards that align with general subject areas as follows:

Teachers can access examples of formative and summative assessments for a variety of content objectives and grade levels on the WIDA website at www.wida.us. Click on Standards & Instruction and then English Language Development. To the right is a link allowing teachers to search using grade level, type of assessment, a particular standard, and one of the four language domains (speaking, listening, reading, writing).
