CDC guidance leads to some event cancellations

April 2, 2021 - Carrollton, Ky. - Based on CDC guidance, several upcoming events in the Carroll County School District are being canceled:

- Eighth-grade formal

- Moving Up ceremonies

The CDC “continues to recommend that large gatherings be avoided, particularly those in which physical (social) distancing cannot be maintained between people who live in different households." District administrators are considering each event on a case-by-case basis. While COVID-19 case numbers have been declining, there is still uncertainty regarding infection rates in the coming weeks and months. In order to maximize the chances of the district being able to provide continuing in-person instruction, and also in order to maximize the chances of seniors being able to experience prom, in-person graduation, and other one-time activities, some events for students in lower grades are being canceled.

"I am very sorry to say that we are canceling these events for students in our lower grades," said Superintendent Danny Osborne. "I do not make this decision lightly, and I do understand that COVID-19 has forced us to make tough decisions that have prevented many of our students from experiencing a normal school year. However, we have come a long way from where we were a few months ago. I am so thankful that we are able to offer in-person instruction for all students. However, the future is very uncertain. In order to ensure that we are able to continue with in-person instruction and with special events for our seniors, I feel that this is the best decision."
